In the last couple of years, there has been an uprising of so called "in-vehicle computer manufacturers" offering low cost, low end "car pc systems" or "carputer's". Many of these providers are simply computer resellers, selling mini-pc components. These mini-pc platforms were never designed with the intention of being installed into a vehicle. They do not feature ruggedized enclosures, embedded components, intelligent 12V power supplies or the proper software required to have a true in-vehicle computer solution. The majority of the time, these online resellers are simply selling components that may allow a person to assemble a home-brew car based computer. The main G-NET Car PC unit is very small and will fit into nearly any vehicle. The main unit can be installed in the glove box, under a seat, in the trunk or in the armrest storage compartment. Since the system turns on and off with the ignition, the user never needs to have the ability to physically touch the device to operate it. The vehicle computer doesn't require any special mounting hardware.

The G-NET Car PC features an embedded 1.5ghz VIA C7 CPU. At first glance certain people may consider this CPU underpowered because of its clock speed. It is important to consider both the application and the environment. Although many of today's modern desktop PC's can reach speeds around the 3.0ghz range, it is not without sacrifice. These higher speed CPU's require massive amounts of power and large form factor, advanced cooling system designs, two things which can not be obtained in a small form factor vehicle mounted computer. Secondly, the CPU provided with the G-NET Car PC is usually more than adequate for the applications that a vehicle computer will run. The embedded CPU not only allows the system to run cooler and conserve power, but also makes the G-NET Car PC a very affordable product offering.

G-NET makes display selection easy. We have a wide range of vehicle mounted VGA touch screen LCD displays that will work for nearly any installation. Already have an LCD screen or looking at an alternate model? The G-NET Car PC has outputs for a wide range of third party LCD displays. We also offer factory integration adapters, to allow you to connect a car based computer to your OEM GPS navigation display if your vehicle is already equipped with an LCD screen from the factory.

The G-NET Car PC can be installed into virtually any vehicle. A full color installation manual is provided that will guide you through the installation and operation of the G-NET Car PC. The system can be installed by yourself or any competent car audio installation shop in your area.
