Product Overview:iPod car audio input is made easy with the GNET_HONDAIPOD, the unit is designed to work in Honda and Acura vehicles that have XM compatible radios. The XM tuner DOES NOT have to be present for our ipod car adapter kits to work, but does need to be supported. The G-NET line of ipod interfaces is the easiest way to get audio from your ipod into your Honda OEM audio system.
The GNET_HONDAIPOD is loaded with features including on screen text, steering wheel and radio button controls as well as touch screen controls (if nav is present). The iPod car adapter kit also includes an aux input via stereo RCA connectors that will allow you to connect any other audio device to your oem Honda speaker system.
The module is completely plug and play and includes the OEM radio connectors to make the installation very easy. A simple “T” harness is provided so no wires need to be cut and there is no need to locate a separate power, ground and audio signal. Simply unplug the harness at the back of your OEM radio, plug it into the one end of our harness, then plug the other end back into your Honda radio. Connect our harness to the ipod car adapter module, and plug in your ipod, the installation is really that simple!
Other Honda and Acura radios and nav systems that aren’t listed here may also be compatible, the only requirement is that your vehicle has the XM button present.
Accessing The iPod
For cars with factory XM tuner - To access the ipod functions, press the XM button on your radio one time. When you hear the XM audio, press the FM button, then the XM button again, this will start ipod control mode. To switch back to XM press the FM button and XM buttons once again.
For cars without factory XM tuner - To access the iPod® functions and text, press the XM button on your radio one time.
Radio Button Functions
- Preset 1 PLAYLIST: Allows change by PLAYLIST with the Category button
- Preset 2 ARTIST: Allows change by ARTIST with the Category button
- Preset 3 ALBUM: Allows change by ALBUM with the Category button
- Preset 4 GENRE: Allows change by GENRE with the Category button
- Preset 5 SIMPLE MODE ON
- Preset 6 SIMPLE MODE OFF
- Tune Up / Down - Change song number up or down
Category Up – Down Search for PLAYLIST, ARTIST, ALBUM OR GENRE Scan button Press to select AUX INPUT on the interface DISP button Press to select additional text for display on the radio
The SIMPLE MODE selection will return control of the iPOD to its own buttons. Songs can still be changed with the buttons on the radio and steering wheel although no text is displayed on the radio.
Programming / Switch Settings On The iPod Interface
The GNET_HONDAIPOD interface is universal in application and requires only a simple switch setting to properly program it to match your vehicle and options. The GNET_HONDAIPOD is shipped with all switches in the UP position. If your vehicle is already equipped with a factory XM tuner then place switch 4 in the DOWN position. This will program the GNET_HONDAIPOD for use while in the presence of an XM tuner and prevent conflict between the components.
If you have an XM tuner but are not currently subscribed, still place switch 4 in the DOWN position. All other applications where an XM tuner is not present will leave all interface switches in the UP position. After positioning the programming switch, plug the interface into the harness. This will lock in the setting you have selected. If you have made a mistake and need to change the programming setting, unplug the GNET_HONDAIPOD module first and then change the switch position. If the interface is not unplugged while changing the programming settings, the new programming will not be performed and improper operation may result
Included with the ipod car adapter kit is a cable designed to connect an iPOD or iPHONE to the GNET_HONDAIPOD. Plug the cable into the GNET_HONDAIPOD and the other end into the bottom of the iPOD / iPHONE. If your iPOD does not have a bottom docking connector, it is not compatible with the GNET_HONDAIPOD interface. Compatible iPODs include NANO, MINI, iPhone, 4th and 5th generation iPODs including photo/video.
Recommended Settings For Optimal Sound
Music can be recorded at many levels and compression settings and then stored on your iPOD. To insure proper sound and remove annoying audio level shifts or distortion, follow these simple suggestions. Open iTUNES with your iPOD attached, Then Click EDIT, Click PREFERENCES, Click PLAYBACK, uncheck CROSSFADE PLAYBACK, and finally Click SOUND CHECK. This will create balanced playback for your listening enjoyment.
