Product Overview:iPod car audio input is made easy with the GNET_GMIPOD, the unit is designed to work in GM - Cadillac - Chevrolet - Hummer - Pontiac - Buick vehicles that have XM compatible radios. The XM tuner DOES NOT have to be present for our ipod car adapter kits to work, but does need to be supported. The G-NET line of ipod interfaces is the easiest way to get audio from your ipod into your GM - Cadillac - Chevrolet - Hummer - Pontiac - Buick OEM audio system.
The GNET_GMIPOD is loaded with features including on screen text, steering wheel and radio button controls as well as touch screen controls (if nav is present). The iPod car adapter kit also includes an aux input via stereo RCA connectors that will allow you to connect any other audio device to your oem GM - Cadillac - Chevrolet - Hummer - Pontiac - Buick speaker system.
The module is completely plug and play and includes the OEM radio connectors to make the installation very easy. A simple “T” harness is provided so no wires need to be cut and there is no need to locate a separate power, ground and audio signal. If your vehicle comes with the OEM XM tuner installed, the interface and harness will be plugged in at the location of the XM tuner. If your vehicle does not have the XM tuner installed, then the ipod car adapter kit will be plugged in behind the factory radio. Simply unplug the OEM harness and plug it into the one end of our harness, then plug the other end back into your GM - Cadillac - Chevrolet - Hummer - Pontiac - Buick radio or XM tuner. Connect our harness to the ipod car adapter module, and plug in your ipod, the installation is really that simple!
Accessing The iPod
For cars with factory XM tuner - To access the ipod functions, press the XM button on your radio one time. When you hear the XM audio, press the FM button, then the XM button again, this will start ipod control mode. To switch back to XM press the FM button and XM buttons once again.
For cars without factory XM tuner - To access the iPod® functions and text, press the XM button on your radio one time.
Radio Button Functions
The GNET_GMIPOD Interface will allow complete control of your ipod or iphone right from your oem radio or navigation screen. However, the way to control the ipod or iphone varies from vehicle to vehicle. For specific button and control instructions please download the installation manual and users guide.
Programming / Switch Settings On The iPod Interface
The GM IPOD interface is universal in application and must be individually programmed to match your vehicle and options using the simple switch settings provided on the interface box. Consult the application guide to determine the correct settings for your vehicle or match the pictures in this document with your radio and communication type. After positioning the programming switches to match your car and radio, plug the interface into the harness. This will lock in the settings you have selected. If you have made a mistake or desire to select a different setting, unplug the interface box and iPOD connector before changing any switch settings. If the interface is not unplugged while changing the programming settings, the new programming will not be performed and improper operation may result.
Included with the ipod car adapter kit is a cable designed to connect an iPOD or iPHONE to the GNET_GMIPOD. Plug the cable into the GNET_GMIPOD and the other end into the bottom of the iPOD / iPHONE. If your iPOD does not have a bottom docking connector, it is not compatible with the GNET_GMIPOD interface. Compatible iPODs include NANO, MINI, iPhone, 4th and 5th generation iPODs including photo/video.
